In South Africa, a staggering 7.9 million men were taking Viagra in 2021, a 13.9% increase over the same period last year.
In Uganda, of the 1.4 million men taking Viagra, about 2.7 million were receiving treatment, and about 1.5 million were still taking the drug.
The problem extends to other countries, including South Africa and Uganda.
The report indicates that Viagra accounted for about 6.5 million unlicensed prescriptions for the country in 2021.
For South Africa, the issue of counterfeiting is becoming increasingly urgent. While the prevalence of fake Viagra is rising, many of its users are not aware of the existence of the drug.
On average, men who take Viagra for erectile dysfunction don’t have any issues getting or maintaining an erection, according to the report. But the problem has also led to concerns among some health professionals.
